The Misty Mountain Project Exhibition

May 11, 2017 Julie Williams
Misty Mountain Project

Julie is delighted to be taking part in The Misty Mountain Project Exhibition from the 18 - 24 May, 2017 in Imogiri, Java, Indonesia.

The heart of this project lies in two different villages in two different countries that are both creative centres: Hill End and Imogiri. Hill End, Australia is a former gold mining town, Imogiri is adjacent to a royal graveyard complex in central Java.

The Misty Mountain Project Exhibition will be held during ART|JOG 2017, in the artist Jumaadi's beautiful hilly garden compound above the jewel-like village of Imogiri. The Misty Mountain Project Exhibition is an innovative collaboration bringing together 12 artists from Imogiri and across the globe to a small village, to share ideas about place, history, community, myth and death via the disciplines of drawing, painting, puppetry, textiles and sculpture.

This is a diverse international celebration of contemporary and traditional art, craft and community. The initiators of this project, the artists Jumaadi (Imogiri), and Julie Williams and Janet Haslett (Hill End), have long felt a connection between their two villages and see this as the first of a series of inter-village projects between Indonesia and Australia.
